Sitting at the intersection of learning and work, COIL is an approach to teaching and learning that has students address global problems in collaborative multi-national teams and pitching their solutions to NGOs, local government and other partners. COIL allows learners from around the world to participate in learning and upskilling driven by the needs of their local communities as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The workshop will be led by

INVITATION-ONLY ROUNDTABLE
8:00am PT / 11:00am ET / 16:00 CET - BY INVITATION ONLY - 90 MINUTES
SKILLS ONTOLOGIES ROUNDTABLE:
COLLABORATING ON A VISION FOR A GLOBAL SKILLS GENOME
Together, we are close to cracking the code on human skills.
Since the 1950s, governments, educators, corporations, and innovators have worked to understand and codify human skills. Information about our skills sits in corporate databases, on social media sites, in academic institutions - even in content that each of us creates.
Yet as with so many arenas that are undergoing rapid and disruptive change, when it comes to human skills, we use different words for the same abilities, and the same words for different abilities - even in the same language.
Today, many organizations and initiatives around the world have developed their own approaches to categorizing an inventorying human skills. We need to begin connecting those efforts, working together to create an open, global, interconnected "skills genome" information fabric that can help to create a better future of work and learning for humans.
In the same way that we have cracked the code on our biological genome,
together we can crack the code on human skills.
This 1.5 hour roundtable will bring together innovators from around the world to offer 1-minute overviews of their initiatives, and to discuss opportunities for insights and collaboration.
THIS SESSION IS BY INVITATION ONLY.
